Advanced degrees are paid by the taxpayer in Pa . Also, where did I criticize any teachers except inRead More your reading between the lines .
Bob Lentz July 24, 2014 at 01:01 pm
I asume prematurely maybe, that you meant me as complaining and threatening to end an agreement ? IRead More never said that and never heard it mentioned all the way up to Governor Corbett . He , in fact stated no retirees or persons already in the system will be affected . Honor , I don't belong to any secret organization that makes backroom deals .

THERE NO NEED FOR PENSION REFORM IF ALL THE EXEMPTIONS ON PROPERTY TAXES WERE ELIMINATED .EVERYONERead More SHOULD PAY SCHOOL TAXES PERIOD. I POSTED A COMMENT ON GOV. CORBETT WHEN HE WAS IN ALLENTOWN. HERE IT IS, Subject: GOV. CORBETT FUND RAISER IN ALLENTOWN, PA. MAYBE THE DEMOCRATS CAN HELP, I SENT THIS TO GOV. CORBETT. HE WAS AT A FUND RAISER IN ALLENTOWN AT THE HOME OF MR. JAINDL TALKING ABOUT INCREASES IN PROPERTY TAXES DUE TO STATE PENSIONS. I SAID ISN'T IT IRONIC THAT MR. JAINDL OWNED ABOUT 13,000 ACRES IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY . YOU WOULD THINK HE WOULD BE INTERESTED IN PROPERTY TAX REFORM . HE IS NOT BECAUSE MOST OF HIS 13,000 ACRES ARE RECEIVING HUGH TAX BREAKS UNDER THE PA. CLEAN AND GREEN ACTS 319,515 PROGRAMS. THESE PROGRAMS EXEMPT 98% OF THE TAXES ON THE LAND. FACTS LEHIGH CO. HAS 223,000 TOTAL ACRES, OF THIS 96,000 ACRES IN 10 OR MORE ACRE PARCELS ARE UNDER THESE PROGRAMS. ONE 33 ACRE PARCEL JUST LAND , MY FAVORITE ONE IS ASSESSED AT $3 MILLION DOLLARS.MY HOME IS ASSESSED AT $280,000 AND I PAY CLOSE TO $6000.00 TOTAL PROPERTY TAX. SO, AFTER THE PA. CLEAN AND ACT 319,515, WE HAVE A MIRACLE, TOTAL TAXES $478.00 FOR A PROPERTY ASSESSED AT $3 MILLION, CHECK IT OUT BELOW. WHY OUR TAXES ARE GOING UP IS BECAUSE OF THIS NONSENSE.I THINK THEY SHOULD GET A TAX BREAK JUST NOT 98%. IF GOV. CORBETT TOLD MR. JAINDL HE WAS GOING TO DO AWAY WITH THESE PROGRAMS THAT ARE ABOUT 50 YEARS OLD, TO HELP POOR FARMERS BACK THEN. I SURE THE FUNDRAISER WOULD HAVE BEEN HELD ELSEWHERE. NOW ALSO, ADD IN NIZ, KOZ, NON PROFITS, HOSPITALS THEY OWN EVERYTHING NOW,GOVERNMENTS ETC. WHO IS LEFT TO PAY THE PROPERTY TAXES.NOT MANY. That is a total joke. Why do they have to raise the speed limit when people go 75-85 mph now? ThereRead More is virtually no enforcement now for speeders and there will be no enforcement when the limit changes.
Bob Lentz July 24, 2014 at 11:22 am
It's all about the newer gas burners that don't burn up so much . Remember the 55 MPH limit . ItRead More reduced road deaths and saved gas . I think that was the purpose of the 55 mph . I-78 should be renamed to Heavens Highway .

According to foodsafteynews.com the problem was with a filthy Wawona packing plant. After the plantRead More was cleaned there was no more Listeria present on any fruit. So why does this this article start with the word Organic?
EWCtzn July 24, 2014 at 12:45 am
Kara, the headline reads "Organic Fruit Sold Locally Recalled for Possible ListeriaRead More Contamination". It's clearly sensationalizing the two organic products.
Suzanne jefferis July 24, 2014 at 01:12 pm
The article should read 'Fruit Sold Locally'... It is misleading to the unaware who read no fartherRead More to suggest that organic fruit is the problem. All fruit, organic or those sprayed with unsafe pesticides should be washed. If gene spliced with herbicides and toxic pathogens as with GMO fruit, it is no longer a product of nature.

If the County didn't do it this what, what else would make then pay? Surely not takingRead More responsibility and doing it on their own...If so, it wouldn't of come to this. Sure everyone's situation is different. Like a comment above "I have to pay because my Ex is to lazy to get a job" NO, you pay because the child is also yours. You would be paying if she worked or not. It's the way it is and doing whats right! Those not paying or thinking this way sure have some crappy morals...
mac July 22, 2014 at 02:14 pm
Don't you all think that those kids already see their parents as villains for not caring enough toRead More stick around and be responsible. That is the problem with this country and so many who live in it. Everything is disposable even their own children. And when they are not disposing of items they have their hands out for more freebies. Some of the kids in the system might not even know that the pictures are their dads or moms, because they have never seen them. There is no good way to collect but it is time they did something. I know for one I'm tired of working all my life to see my money go to increased taxes to pay for those able bodied persons on the welfare wagon!
George Robertson July 22, 2014 at 02:38 pm
In response Kathleen, I have paid every penny that I was ordered to pay, I should at least have theRead More satisfaction of knowing it went to my child and not for my ex's pleasures. There needs to be accountability presented. Not just pay the money and you don't need to know where it goes. I have always been a responsible person in regards to finances, but if the other spouse is lousy at it, that is not the other spouses problem.

Duke Ganote July 20, 2014 at 03:45 am
Facts first! Rural interstates account for less than 5% of Pennsylvania's traffic deaths. With aRead More fatality rate of 0.60, rural interstates are the safest rural roads in the state -- the state-wide rural rate is 3.72 deaths per 100-million-travel-miles -- over six times higher!
William Keyser July 20, 2014 at 10:08 am
It was recently posed that speed limits were just revenue generators. I say drop the speed limitsRead More altogether and have police enforce safe driving by discretion.
Pam July 20, 2014 at 10:17 am
I've noticed that other states like Arizona, Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, etc have theirRead More posted speed limits appropriate to the road conditions. On limited access highways (theirs tend to be a spacious 4-8 lanes) the speed limit is 85mph & 75mph on major roads. Good drivers know that this is 'maximum' assumes dry road conditions & good visibility. For limited access roads this is a blessing. Mountain passes, hairpin curves, and severe sloped grades are a different story and might be 25mph or less. Cut to PA limited access highways: tons of congestion and bottlenecks, typical 2-4 lanes except of rt95 and some parts of the PA turnpike, slower speed limits, and more people commuting. It's not hard to see why 'rush hour' in PA is all about sitting in traffic NOT moving. 'Rush hour' in AZ is not a congested mess, there are lots of people and the traffic moves great ! Our PA roads are small and designed poorly for traffic flow and speed. Take the new rt202 bypass through Doylestown to Montgomeryville, feeder roads are posted higher than the limited access road (45mph)-how is that NOT a bottleneck? Raising the speed limit on major PA limited access roads helps alleviate congestion. I wouldn't do this with every PA road, but the turnpike is a good start.
