Arlen Specter Funeral Open to Public Tuesday in MontCo

Vice President Joe Biden plans to attend the service. Specter, the former U.S. senator, died Sunday at 82.

A funeral for former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) will be held at noon Tuesday at Har Zion Temple in Lower Merion, Montgomery County. The service is open to the public; cameras and recording devices are prohibited. Specter will then be buried in Huntingdon Valley, Montgomery County. Among those expected to attend the funeral is Vice President Joe Biden, USA Today reported. Har Zion's address is 1500 Hagys Ford Road, Narberth, PA 19072; it is less than a mile from the Gladwyne exit (Exit 337) of Interstate 76. Sen. Arlen Specter Dies

The former U.S. Senator fought a long battle with cancer.

Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter died Sunday, according to CNN, at age 82 in his Philadelphia home. Specter represented Pennsylvania in the Senate for 30 years. Specter started as a Democrat but switched to the Republican party before being elected to the U.S. Senate. The senator made headlines in 2009 when he switched to the Democratic Party. Specter announced his diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease in 2005. He underwent multiple treatments of chemotherapy and finally succumbed to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma Sunday. Sen. Stephen J. Harrington, 46, of Blue Bell, PA died on September 29, 2012 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Costello) Harrington of 15 years.  He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 30, 1966 to James J. and Frances J. (Klauder) Harrington. Stephen was a graduate of Bishop Kenrick High School.  He was the owner of S. J Harrington Enterprises, Inc. for over 25 years. Via Veneto Founder Dies at 58

Natale "Nat" Stabile, the founder and co-owner of Via Veneto, died on Saturday, Aug. 11, after a long battle with cancer.

Natale "Nat" Stabile, Norristown legend and founder and co-owner of Via Veneto, reportedly passed away on Saturday, Aug. 11, after a long battle with cancer. He was 58. Stabile moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. from his birthplace of Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily in 1969 but soon settled in Norristown in 1973 at the age of 18. It was then he opened Via Veneto. According to a moving feature about Stabile on PhillyBurbs.com, he opened Nat's Pizza in Doylestown three years later and became a beloved figure in that town as well.  "He’s the best pizza man I’ve ever seen and probably the fastest I’ve ever seen. Services for Garrett Reid set For Tuesday

In lieu of flowers, the Reid family is asking that donations be sent to Norristown-based domestic-violence prevention agency Laurel House.

According to Philly.com, funeral arrangement have been made for Garrett Reid, eldest son of Philadelphia Eagles Coach Andy Reid, who was found dead early Sunday morning in his room at Lehigh University. Reid had been helping at Eagles training camp with players' stength training and conditioning. He was 29 years old. Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Broomall. The Reid family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Laurel House, a Norristown-based domestic-violence prevention agency. Philomena attended Norristown Area Schools. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Ambler and Lower Gwynedd Lions Auxillary. She loved cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Philomena T. Rotelli, 91, of Ambler, died on July 24, 2012 at Mercy Suburban Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Renald Rotelli. She was born in Norristown, PA on June 28, 1921 to the late William and Rose (Volpe) Frangiose.  Philomena attended Norristown Area Schools. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Ambler and Lower Gwynedd Lions Auxillary. Patricia L. (Siletta) Painter, age 68, of Limerick, PA passed away on Tuesday morning, June 26, 2012 in her home surrounded by her children.
