Emergency Crews Respond to Man's Fall From Plymouth Tree

A man suffered a head injury after a 30-feet fall from a tree and was flown by PennSTAR to a downtown hospital.

  A man suffered head injuries after falling 30 feet from a tree in Plymouth Township and was flown for treatment by a PennSTAR helicopter to a downtown hospital, according to Michael Sturm of the Harmonville Fire Company. The injury occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of Red Rowan Lane and Wayland Road off of Germantown Pike, and the helicopter landed at a field adjacent to the Greater Plymouth Community Center. Harmonville Fire Co. and Plymouth Community Ambulance were on the scene.

Violence in Norristown Captured on Video, Uploaded to Internet

Fights in school, fights in the street and even arranged fights in backyards can be found by simply typing 'Norristown' into the YouTube search bar.

Update: Both videos which were featured in this article have since been deleted by YouTube for violating their Terms of Service agreement. Though two similar videos remain on the "Garfield Williams" page, user "Norristown Fights" has removed all of the violent content from their page. Original story follows: Did you know that if you type the word "Norristown" into the search bar on YouTube, the first word auto-complete brings up is "fights?" Neither did we, until a simple search for videos about Norristown lead us to discover upload after upload of violence in the streets, on school property, and various other places. MCCC to Graduate Largest Class in History for 12th Consecutive Year

The increase is a testament to MCCC’s efforts to improve student access, success and completion over the last decade.   A record total of 1,513 students will receive 1,535 associate’s degrees and certificates during the College’s 46th Commencement exercises, which will be held at MCCC’s Central Campus in Blue Bell starting at 7 p.m.   The ceremony will feature a keynote address by Drexel University President John A. Norristown Area High School Finishes in Top Three of Montco Envirothon

Norristown Area High School was one of six Montgomery County high schools to compete in the annual county Conservation District’s Envirothon.

The Montgomery County Conservation District Held its annual Envirothon May 1 – 3, which featured student teams from several of the county’s elementary, middle and high schools, including Norristown Area High School. The Envirothon, which started state-wide in 1976, is designed to expose youth to nature through which they can relate how humans impact the natural world, while providing invaluable lessons for understanding ecosystems and our environment, according to the Envirothon website. Montgomery County’s Conservation District has three versions of the Envirothon, one for each school level. Annual Golf Outing Raises Funds for NASD Students

The annual Norristown Area Education Foundation will be held on July 15.

Norristown Area Education Foundation will hold its annual golf outing to raise money Norristown Area School District students. The golf outing will begin with a light breakfast and shotgun start, followed by a barbecue lunch. The outing will be held on July 15 at the Plymouth Country Club. MCCC Names 62 Students from County to Who's Who List

Who’s Who Among American Junior Colleges welcomes several county residents to its famed list.

Sixty-two students from Montgomery County Community College’s Class of 2013 were named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. To qualify for Who’s Who, students must have graduated during the 2012-2013 academic year with a grade point average of at least 2.75 and must be nominated by a member of MCCC’s faculty or staff. NAEF Golf Outing Rescheduled for July 15

The annual fundraiser for the Norristown Area Education Foundation is being moved to accomodate more players.

From the Norristown Area Education Foundation: The date of the 8th Annual Norristown Area Education Foundation Golf Outing has been moved. The event will not take place on Monday, May 13 as previously scheduled but instead will be on Monday, July 15, 2013. The venue remains the Plymouth Country Club in Plymouth Meeting.  "It is our sincere hope that, by holding the golf outing in the summer, more teachers and school district staff will be able to support it. Our goal is to include as many people as possible," said Dan Delaney, NAEF Board member and Chair of the Golf Outing Committee. Whitehall Elementary Students Travel to Riverbend

The field trip was sponsored by West Conshohocken-based ASTM International.

ASTM International sponsored a field trip to Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne, on Wednesday, May 8, for 90 third-grade students from Whitehall Elementary School. The students were excited for their first trip to Riverbend, which was planned as part of their current science lesson on watersheds, the area of land where all of the water that is under it or drains off of it goes into the same place. The students visited the center’s stream and pond, and learned more about the watershed model, the effects of pollution and macroinvertebrate activity. ASTM International, based in West Conshohocken, sponsors several field trips a year to Riverbend for local elementary schools in the Colonial, Norristown and Upper Merion school …
