Father and Son Duo Assault Man, Steal Phone for Drug Debt, Police Say

Derrick Clay, 42, of Norristown, along with his son, Anthony, 22, and an unidentified woman, allegedly threw a Lower Providence man down a flight of stairs and stole his fiancee's phone.

A father-and-son duo from Norristown were arrested after they allegedly broke into a Lower Providence man's apartment, threw him down a flight of stairs, and stole his fiance's phone to settle a drug debt. According to the Pottstown Mercury, Derrick Clay, 42, of Norristown, along with his son, Anthony, 22, and an unidentified woman, broke into an apartment on the 3400 block of Germantown Pike on April 28 to confront the man about a $100 drug debt. When informed that the man could not pay, the elder Clay reportedly threw the man down the stairs, before embarking on a search for "collateral." Rooftop Struggle with Burglar Ends in Tasing, Arrest of Bridgeport Man, Police Say

Authorities say 48-year-old Michael Thomas was threatening to jump from the roof of a three-story home in the 1000 block of Willow Street in an effort to escape capture.

An alleged burglar was captured after a midday rooftop struggle with police in which the suspect threatened to jump rather than be arrested. Norristown Police responded to the 1000 block of Willow Street just after 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29, to a call from a neighbor reporting that "an older black male wearing a red jacket and black hat" was seen climbing through a window in the rear of a nearby home. At the scene, officers saw the open window and surrounded the house.  The officers could reportedly see the suspect matching the description, later identified as 48-year-old Michael Thomas, of Bridgeport, attempting to escape the house through windos in the second and third floors. This week's stories include an alleged panhandler who can't take a hint, an allegedly drunken driver who police say pushed emergency personnel while they were rescuing her and a Norristown man who picked a bad place to sleep one off.

If at First You Don't Succeed: According to a report in the Pottstown Patch, a 22-year-old woman was cited three times in one day after she repeatedly panhandled for cigarettes outside of Redner's. The woman reportedly launched into profanity-laden tirades directed towards the store's manager as well as responding officers. Police Still Searching for Two Men in Assault and Robbery in East Norriton

The two men allegedly beat an East Norriton resident in his home and bound him with duct tape.

The East Norriton Police Department has released the following information: On Wednesday, April 3, at approximately 12 p.m., a robbery occurred in the 3000 block Green Ridge Drive in East Norriton Township.  The victim knew one of the two suspects casually and invited the known suspect to his residence. The invited suspect showed up at the residence with another individual. A short time after the suspects arrived at the victim’s residence; they attacked and beat up the victim. The victim was bound with duct tape and was threatened with a weapon. The two men then searched the home and stole jewelry and other items. This week's stories include a man who allegedly threw his weed at cops during a traffic stop and a Whitemarsh man who quickly went from a victim to arrestee.

Driver Throws Weed At Cops: According to a report in the Abington Patch, a 44-year-old man is facing drug charges after he allegedly threw a bag of marijuana at an officer during a traffic stop. When police asked the man what he did, he responded, "[Expletive], I can't believe I just threw weed at cops." The man also allegedly confessed to having "a little rock down [his] pants." Scarlett Found Guilty of Kidnapping, Terroristic Threats

Scarlett held his brother-in-law captive and tortured him in retribution for "snitching" on him to police.

According to The Times Herald, 25-year-old Rayon Scarlett was found guilty on Monday of charges of kidnapping, conspiracy and terroristic threats in connection with a March 2008 incident in which Scarlett and three other men held Khanneil Headley, Scarlett's brother-in-law, at gunpoint. Headley testified the men tied him up and threatened to get "rid of him" in retribution for his cooperation with police in a previous investigation into Scarlett's alleged drug- and gun-related crimes. Scarlett's lawyer claimed his client was not present when Headley was accosted. "My client’s name does not show up at all in [Headley’s] initial report," Keith A. Victim Testifies Against Brother-in-Law in Alleged Kidnapping and Torture Case

Twenty five-year-old Rayon Scarlett is accused of kidnapping and assaulting his brother-in-law in retribution for cooperating with police in a previous investigation into Scarlett's alleged criminal activity.

According to The Times Herald, Khanneil Headley took the stand Thursday morning, Jan. 10, to testify against Rayon Scarlett, the brother of his estranged wife and the mother of the couple's two children, Kemara Scarlett. Scarlett is reportedly being charged with kidnapping, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint and theft in connection with a March 2008 incident in which authorities say he and three other men showed up at Headley's apartment, held him at gunpoint, tied him up and threatened to get "rid of him" in retribution for Headley's cooperation with police in a previous investigation into alleged drug- and gun-related crimes. Busy Night for First Responders in Norristown

Several shootings, serious accidents and at least one assault that may have resulted in a medevac kept police on their toes Saturday night.

The night is barely through and Norristown Police and emergency responders have had their hands full with multiple reports of shots fired, at least one serious car accident and one assault that may have resulted in a victim with a head injury being medevaced to an area hospital. Details on most of tonight's activity are still scarce, but police are investigating at least three shooting incidents within several hours late afternoon and early evening on Saturday, Jan. 5. Reports of the first incident surfaced sometime around 4 p.m. – shots fired in the area of the 200 block of East Oak Street. Police were unable to confirm details of that incident.
