Norristown Man Arrested in Friday Morning Shooting Incident

An argument that escalated into a vehicular assault and shots being fired resulted in at least one man hospitalized and another in custody.

An argument between two men turned violent on Friday morning when one man tried to run down the other with his car and the victim fired shots at his assailant's vehicle. According to reports from the Norristown Police Department, officers responded to the 300 block of East Basin Street at approximately 9:47 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30 for a report of a pedestrian struck and shots fired in that area. Police arrived and found the victim who reported that he had been inside his home when he heard a car horn followed by banging on his front door. The victim told police he answered the door and found 31-year-old Rasheem Cooper, of the 500 block of Middletown Place, standing outside. Fire Department Makes Quick Work of Basin Street Blaze

The Norristown Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on the back porch of a home on the 400 block of Basin Street on Friday.

The Norristown Fire Department was dispatched to the 400 block of East Basin Street shortly before 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 for a report of a house fire. Once on the scene, firefighters discovered heavy smoke coming from the rear of the home. The fire was actually an external fire on the rear porch of 401 East Basin Street and the blaze was brought under control in a quick manner with only minor damage to the interior of the home. No one was reported injured in the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been reported, but according to a report from the Norristown Police Department, investigators do not suspect foul play. Basin Street Fire Under Investigation

A police report identifies the fire as suspicious. Investigators reportedly found a trash bag full of clothes burning on the back patio of the home.

The fire that damaged two homes on West Basin Street on Friday is under investigation according to a report from the Norristown Police Department.   The Norristown Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at 20 West Basin Street shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday. According to the department's website, firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze that appeared to have started in the back of the property. The Norristown Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at 20 West Basin Street shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday. According to the department's website, firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze that appeared to have started on the back stairs and extended into the kitchen and then into an attached property. No word yet on what caused the fire. No one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.
