Calvary Baptist to Open its Cornerstone Time Capsule This Saturday

The church is celebrating its 125th year of ministry in Norristown.

Calvary Baptist Church, at 801 W. The rain date for the event will be Saturday, June 30. According to The Times Herald, the church was founded as a mission church and originally located across from the Montgomery County Courthouse, but in 1887 a new mission church, called “Second Baptist,” was created. Norristown in Her Sixties

As we celebrate our town's 200 birthday, let's take a look back at our younger days.

Another Patcher found this map of Norristown, circa 1881, on the Library of Congress website and passed it on. While none of these buildings are still around I figured someone out there might know where some of them used to be. If nothing else it's a real pretty picture of our town. You can download your own copy of this map here. The Norristown Bicentennial Celebration is still going strong. Read more about it and upcoming events here.
