Centre Square Fire Co. is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a year-long celebration. On May 18, the local Whitpain fire company will hold a 100th anniversary parade, beginning at the corner of Skippack and Penllyn-Blue Bell Pike and ending at the fire house, at 1298 Skippack Pike. The parade will begin at 11 a.m., but Skippack Pike will be shut down to traffic beginning at 10:30 a.m., from Narcissa Rd. to the intersection of Rt. 202/DeKalb Pike. Have you seen Clarence? He escaped on March 18 from the parking lot of a veterinary clinic along the 1000 block of Dekalb Pike in Blue Bell. His owner is deperately seeking his safe return to his home in Whitemarsh. He's described by his owner as follows: The owner told Patch that Clarence may have been seen repeatedly since March 30 near Whitpain Hills, Saint John's Church, the Mara Drive Development and Sunnybrook. The most recent sighting was on April 14 on Ashford Lane, west of Whitpain Hills, according to a witness. If you see Clarence, the owners asks that you attempt to feed him and call her immediately at 267-408-5396. Blue Bell-based Correctional Medical Care Inc. is being investigated by New York's Attorney General in connection with the deaths of nine inmates who reportedly received substandard medical care.
The Attorney General of New York has announced that his office has launched an investigation into the deaths of nine inmates over a three-year span after critical reports by the New York Commission of Correction (COC) regarding the prison medical care provided by Blue Bell-based Correctional Medical Care Inc. (CMC) . In an article by Steve Reilly at the Ithaca Journal, CMC repeatedly defends the care they provide, but Reilly cites reports by the COC's Medical Review Board which state that CMC had at least "some level of fault" in the deaths of nine inmates. Some reports go as far as recommending county-level inquiries to decide if CMC is fit to provide care, the report states. CMC was founded in May of 2001 by Emre Umar, whom the report …

According to the WhiteHouse.gov website, "College Scorecards in the U.S. Department of Education’s College Affordability and Transparency Center make it easier for you to search for a college that is a good fit for you." Montgomery County Community College According to the scorecard, in-state students pay a net price of $7,112 a year to attend MCCC, with campuses in Blue Bell and Pottstown. This is down 4.6% from the 2007 to 2009 costs and considered "low" on the scorecard's scale. A 41-year-old Delaware man is behind bars after being sentenced in federal court to 35 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old Blue Bell boy on 12 separate occasions. According to the Philly.com, John Angell, of Smyrna, Del., was hired to transport the boy and a sibling between their mother's home in Plainview, N.Y. and their father's home in Blue Bell. The father reportedly hired Angell in 2001 and employed him over a six year period to drive the children, according to court documents. During that time, Angell was occasionally alone with the 7-year-old on several occasions and sexually assaulted him while stopped at various rest areas between New York and Pennsylvania until sometime in 2007. If he sexually assulted a child he should NEVER be free again. And to think he assulted someone that he was hired and trusted to transport makes the crime even worse. This little boy will probably have trust issues the rest of his life. I still stand by my belief that ANYONE who sexually assults a child should lose his , or hers freedom.
