Brendan Pierce was convicted of the first-degree murder of 16-year old Dominique Devlin in 2011.
According to The Times Herald, Brendan Pierce, the Norristown man convicted in November of killing 16-year-old Dominique Devlin in July in 2011, was sentenced on Wednesday, Feb. 13, to life in prison. "I have no doubt, Mr. Pierce, that you planned this murder, committed this murder and it was done for revenge," Judge Thomas C. Branca reportedly said during sentencing. "It was done out of a cold, calculated action." Brendan Pierce, the 20-year-old Norristown man on trial for the murder of 16-year-old Dominque Devlin in July 2011 has been found guilty of first-degree murder by a jury on Wednesday. According to The Times Herald, the jury deliberated just over three hours and returned with a unanimous guilty on all charges verdict. The teen victim's mother, Kimberly Spearman, reportedly told the Herald that "justice had been served." Defendant Brendan Pierce testified that he did not kill Dominique Devlin.
According to The Times Herald, testimony in the trial of 20-year-old Brendan Pierce continued on Tuesday with the defendant taking the stand to tell his version of events on the night 16-year old Dominique Devlin was shot and killed in an alley on July 20, 2011 in Norristown. Pierce reportedly told the court that he had met with Devlin that night to engage in a sex act, but the pair was interrupted by an unidentified figure and Pierce was hit over the head, doused with bleach and robbed. Pierce reportedly said he heard the gunshots, but did not kill Devlin. Prosecutors allege that Pierce did, in fact, kill Devlin, with whom he reportedly had had a relationship at one time. Brenden Pierce is accused of murdering 16-year-old Dominique Devlin in July of last year in retaliation for a botched home invasion she helped plan against him.
According to The Times Herald, the trial of 20 year-old Brenden Pierce was scheduled to begin this week with jury selection on Monday, April 23, but a request for a continuance by the defense was granted by Judge Thomas Branca on Friday, April 20. Pierce is accused of shooting and killing 16-year-old Dominique Devlin on July 20, 2011, in retribution for allegedly setting him up to be robbed in a home invasion earlier in the year. The home invasion was botched by the actors who were taken into custody by police the night of the intended robbery.
