Viewfinder: Norristown's Night Out

Norristown residents joined the police, politicians and others at the Carver Center last night to celebrate National Night Out.

Norristown Community Policing and the Norristown Town Watch planned one heck of a party for Norristown's celebration of National Night Out last night at the Carver Community Center. The night is a national program to encourage communities to come together to have a night out against crime. The community enjoyed free swimming, food, dancing, a karate demonstration and lots of information tables with giveaways.

Viewfinder: Keeping Cool at the Carver Center

Stay cool, Norristown.

With the National Weather Service issuing a heat advisory for our area, it's more important than ever to find ways to cool off during the day. To combat today's temperatures in the mid-90s, some Norristown youngsters are keeping cool in the George Washington Carver Community Center's pool. Older folks, children and pets are especially vulnerable in this heat, so be sure to check on friends and relatives today, and make sure they're safe.

Pool Time

The Norristown Fired Department showed up last week to fill the Carver Center's community pool.

Occasionally the fine men of the Norristown Fire Department get a break from running into burning buildings and have a chance to use their equipment for something a little more enjoyable – filling up the community pool at the Gearge Washington Carver Community Center. Firemen from Montgomery Hose and Fire Co. drew the plum assignment last week and took a moment to talk to Norristown Patch about it.
