According to a release from the King of Prussia Business Improvement District (KOP-BID), the group was recently awarded a $500,000 three-year Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Grant by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC). The grant will provide partial funding for a commuter transit shuttle service connecting the King of Prussia Business Park to SEPTA Regional Rail at the Norristown Transportation Center and the Wayne Station. KOP-BID partnered with Upper Merion Township to submit the application for the grant. E-ZPass trips will cost 2% more, cash trips 10% more.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) announced Friday, July 20, that it had approved toll increases for 2013. Starting Sunday, Jan. 6, drivers will see a 10% increase if paying cash, or 2% if paying through an E-ZPass account. The new rates are projected to bring in 3% more revenue and nudge drivers toward the E-ZPass system. Drivers paying electronically with E-ZPass will pay 25% less than those who pay in cash, up from 17% in 2012, and the annual fee will drop from $6 to $3 for noncommercial customers. According to a release issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), nighttime lane closures are scheduled next week, March 26-30, on Interstate 476 (Blue Route) for sign structure work that is part of the $71 million project to improve the highway between the Interstate 76 (Exit 16) and Germantown Pike (Exit 20) interchanges. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission issued a release stating that motorists traveling on the Turnpike (I-76) east from Downingtown and west from Valley Forge will experience slow-moving traffic and stoppages next week, Tuesday through Thursday, Dec. 20-22. The weekly bi-directional traffic paces and stoppages are scheduled to continue between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. until February 2012. Allan A. Myers, the general contractor building the all-electronic toll facility, will resume excavating the rock slope adjacent to the westbound Turnpike mainline next week and requires traffic paces and 15-minute stoppages to safely complete blasting without jeopardizing worker and motorist safety. An overturned commercial truck is blocking the right and center lanes of the PA turnpike westbound between Upper Merion and Germantown Pike in Plymouth, according to a release from PennDOT. According to a SEPTA, a railroad grade crossing renewal project on the Manayunk/Norristown Regional Rail line will result in weekend shuttle bus service between the Norristown Transportation Center (NTC) and the Elm Street station the weekend of Oct. 29-30. Passengers traveling to Philadelphia will board shuttle buses at the Elm Street and Main Street stations 10 minutes before the scheduled train time. Buses will travel to NTC, where passengers will transfer to Regional Rail trains to complete their trips. Trains to Philadelphia will operate normally from NTC and serve all stations inbound to Center City. Several regional rail lines have been suspended this morning.

The National Weather Service has extended the flood warnings to Thursday and notes specific areas to watch out for.
The National Weather Service is extending the Area Flood Warning issued for Montgomery County until Thursday morning or until further notice. Officials are warning residents of Norristown close to the Schuylkill River to be especially alert. Water levels had reached 12.8 feet by 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. Flood stage is reached at 13 feet. Levels are expected to crest at 14 feet by early this morning. The river is expected to fall back down below flood stage levels by Thursday morning.
