Three schools from the Norristown Area School District have once again appeared on the Pennsylvania Department of Education's list of low-achieving schools. Eisenhower Middle School, Stewart Middle School, and Whitehall Elementary School each ranked in the bottom 15% of aggregated Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) math and reading test results for the 2011-12 school year. Both Eisenhower and Stewart appeared on last year's list as well. For students living in areas served by those schools, the "low-achieving" designation could mean eligibility to take advantage of the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program (OSTCP). On Wednesday, July 25, the Pennsylvania Department of Education released it's list of low-acheiving schools (schools in the bottom 15% statewide) and three local schools were on the list – Norristown Area High School, Stewart Middle School and Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy. The designation makes it possible for students living in the boundaries of those schools to take advantage of the new Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program (OSTCP) signed into law in July by Gov. Let's face it Norristown Schools have been a failure for 2 generations. It's hard to be anywhere and meet a less knowledgeable, informed, language challenged group of people. I'd be willing to be the college graduates in Norristown is less than 30% and falling. Lets blame the test scores. These students were stupid before no child left behind. Lol I wish my son went to one of those schools I would try my best to get my kids out to a better school..it's not the teaches fault it's the parents fault from birth and the problem kids who don't want to learn and rather watch tv,play video games which there parents let them do for hours a day since birth.
