Gilbertsville Shooting Victims Identified

A gunman remains at large after five people were shot Saturday night.

First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele and Douglass Township Police Chief Barry L. Templin, Jr. identified the victims in last night’s shooting as Paul Shay, Monica Shay, Joseph Shay, Kathryn Erdmann and her son Gregory. Joseph Shay, 43 of Yarmouth, Mass. and New York, N.Y.; and Gregory, 5, were shot in the head and killed.  Kathryn Erdmann, 37 of Fall River, Mass. was also shot in the head and is in critical condition.  The owners of the house on Renninger Road – Paul Shay, 64, and Monica Shay, 58, of New York, N.Y. – are both hospitalized in critical condition. None of the surviving victims could speak to investigators. Manhunt Still Underway in Nearby Douglass Township

Heavily armed and armored members of CMERT are scouring Douglass Township this morning after a Saturday night shooting that authorities say left two dead and three others wounded.

Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele said this morning that there were two dead as a result of last night's shooting, including one child and "an adult white male." Three others were injured, Steele said. He did not further identify them or provide any information on their conditions. Earlier reports described a five-year-old child dead at the scene and a two-year-old child dead after transport to Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. At least one injured white male with three gunshot wounds was transported from the scene almost two hours after the shooting. Manhunt Under Way in Douglass Township

Heavily armed and armored members of the Ches-Mont Emergency Response Team are scouring an area of Douglass Township this morning after a Saturday night shooting that authorities say left two dead and three others wounded.

Update 6:50 a.m.: Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele said this morning that there were two dead as a result of last night's shooting, including one child and "an adult white male." Three others were injured, Steele said. ABC is reporting that Joseph Shay, 43, and Gregory Erdmann, 2, were identified as the two people killed. "Both suffered gunshot wounds to the head," the report states. The three injured people are in critical condition, the ABC report continues, identifying them as Kathryn Erdmann, 37, Paul Shay, 64, and Monica Shay, 58. Amie, we received initial information that two children were dead. However, Kevin Steele this morning said a child and adult were dead and three people were injured -- all had been shot.   more ›
