The 26-year-old man was transported to a Philadelphia-area hospital for treatment last night.
UPDATE: [1/29/13; 8:05 a.m.] Norristown Police Detective Lt. Michael Crescitelli confirmed that one victim, an unidentified 26-year-old black male, was transported by ambulance to a Philadelphia-area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the right upper inner thigh following last night's reported shooting in the 300 block of George Street. According to the detective, the victim is not cooperating with the police investigation and has refused to answer any questions. Police do not have a suspect in custody, but a witness reportedly observed two black males running north on the 500 block of George Street following the shooting. Residents say they heard shots ring out Tuesday afternoon in the area of West Oak and George streets.
Several residents in the West End reported hearing shots fired shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 15, in the area of West Oak and George streets. According to a report from the Norristown Police Department, a caller who reported hearing the shots told police that he heard them right outside his home. He also reported hearing an unidentified voice say several times, "I'm going to kill you." Officers reportedly spoke with several people at the scene and determined the shots most likely originated in the 600 block of West Oak Street. Police searched the area, but could find no evidence – blood, shell casings or damaged property –of the incident. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Norristown Police …

A dryer fire at Mega Mac Laundromat closed parts of George St. and Marshall St. in Norristown on Saturday evening.
A fire at Marshall St. and George St. in Norristown has Marshall St. closed at George St. and George St. closed at Marshall St. The fire began in a dryer inside the Mega Mac Laundromat and crews are on scene using fans to clear smoke from the laundromat. It doesn't appear that the fire spread to any of the second floor apartments. No injuries were reported in the fire and the scene in under control. Patch is on scene and will update this story as more details emerge.

Firefighters have been ordered to evacuate a home on the 600 block of George Street burning out of control.
UPDATE – 9:30 p.m.: According to The Times Herald, the home at 633 George St. that was destroyed in this evening's blaze was believed to be unoccupied at the time. Several real estate website currently have the two-and-a-half story, single-family dwelling listed for sale. The Herald reports that more than half a dozen area fire companies assisted the Norristown Fire Department with the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. According to The Herald, police are warning residents to be especially careful to watch for ice forming through the night and into the morning as a result of the thousands of gallons of water and freezing temperatures.
