Former Police Chief David C. Eshbach was a lead investigator in a series of York County burglaries committed by Mark Geisenheyner in the 1990s.
Former Police Chief David C. Eshbach said he was "horrified, but not surprised" to learn Mark Geisenheyner was a cold-blooded killer. Police say Geisenheyner, 51, entered a house at 50 Renninger Road in Gilbertsville, Douglass Township around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, shot four adults and child. Eshbach—a former police chief in Springettsbury Township, York County—was the lead investigator in a rash of some 60 burglaries committed by Geisenheyner and his accomplice in the 1990s. "They were hitting one house after another," Eshbach said of the duo that stole many guns and other items. "When you're doing that, you're taking a hell of a risk." The Associated Press is reporting that doctor's removed Mark Geisenheyner's pituitary gland during the autopsy and sent it for testing.
The Associated Press is reporting that testing was conducted to learn whether 51-year-old Mark Geisenheyner, suspected killer of two adults and a child in a shooting in Gilberstsville earlier this month, had a brain tumor, . Geisenheyner's pituitary gland was removed during an autopsy and sent for tests, said Trish Cofiell, a spokeswoman for the Delaware County medical examiner. According to the AP, Coroner Fredric Hellman was told by an investigator and a member of Geisenheyner's family that he had a tumor, Cofiell said. Hellman did not confirm that and said test results may not be available for weeks. The coroner also sent for Geisenheyner's medical records, Cofiell said. Joseph Shay, 43 of Yarmouth, MA, and New York, NY, was shot in the head and killed on Saturday in a house in rural Montgomery County outside Philadelphia. Officials are investigating a possible insurance fraud scheme that may have been the motive behind Saturday night's brutal killing of a 2-year-old and an adult male.
A murder suspect who led police on a manhunt for much of the weekend and was later killed by SWAT team gunfire apparently lived in Pottstown. Mark Richard Geisenheyner, 51, allegedly shot Paul Shay and his wife, Monica, Joseph Shay, Kathryn Erdmann and her son Gregory in a Renninger Road house in Gilbertsville in Douglass Township on Saturday. Heavily armed and armored members of CMERT are scouring Douglass Township this morning after a Saturday night shooting that authorities say left two dead and three others wounded.
Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele said this morning that there were two dead as a result of last night's shooting, including one child and "an adult white male."
