Two public meetings have been scheduled to get residents' input on what Norristown's should look for in its next chief of police.
Norristown's search for a new police chief continues and the municipality has scheduled two of its promised public meetings to include the public in the search process. The first meeting will be held Thursday, March 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library at 1001 Powell Street. The second is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Montgomery County Human Services Center at 1430 DeKalb Street (the old Sacred Heart Hospital). The search committee is hoping to get public input about what sort of professional experience, training and potential law enforcement focus the public would like to see in a new chief of police. With still more than a month to go, municipality has already received interest from a number of candidates.
According to The Times Herald, with still more than a month to go before the deadline for applicants, 21 hopefuls have already submitted resumes for the soon-to-be-open position of Police Chief in Norristown. Norristown has posted it's "help wanted" ad for a new chief of police on several websites.
The Municipality of Norristown has begun advertising the opening for Chief of Police. The ad is reportedly being circulated with several law enforcement trade groups and sites through SafeCity Solutions, the Reading-based search firm contracted to help with the filling the position. It also appears on several well-known job hunting sites like monster.com and indeed.com and it's even listed on the Feminist Majority Foundation's website in its feminist job listings. According to PhillyFireNews.com, a blog dedicated to fire-related and emergency-services news, Lower Providence Community Center Ambulance is searching for a new executive director. According to the posting, the nonprofit ambulance company is looking for someone with "a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the management and operation of a modern emergency service organization or non-profit organization." Norristown Municipal Council member Marlon Millner has planned the event to help job seekers apply for jobs online – like those available at the new Einstein Medical Center opening in September.
"In today’s world, almost 90 percent of all available jobs must be applied for online at a website. Even people competing for low-wage, low-skilled jobs must apply online — from home or at the place of business," Norristown Municipal Council member Marlon Millner recently wrote in a letter to The Times Herald. "These same workers, and even some professional workers are not digitally literate, so applying for a job online can be difficult if not impossible for some." The Einstein Healthcare Network also announced it's chief operating officer and clinician leadership team for the Einstein Medical Center Montgomery scheduled to open in East Norriton in September.
The Einstein Healthcare Network issue a release announcing that job openings for the Einstein Medical Center Montgomery now being constructed in East Norriton are now being posted on EinsteinMontgomery.com. Einstein says they expect to fill more than 350 positions before the opening in September. The jobs range from food service workers to physicians and can be searched by following this link.
