Allstate Mobilizes to Help Local Victims of Hurricane Sandy

The insurance company's mobile claim center will be stationed at the Home Depot in King of Prussia through the weekend to help homeowners wade through the claims process.

Allstate is going mobile.  The insurance company has deployed mobile claims centers across the Northeast to help customers file claims for damages caused by Hurricane Sandy. In our area, Allstate's mobile claim center is spending the weekend camped out at the Home Depot, 181 South Gulph Road in King of Prussia. The claim center will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and customers can talk to catastrophe personnel, get answers to claim questions and file a claim against their Allstate policy. What's more, you don't have to be an Allstate customer to confer with the specialists. While they can't start a claim for another insurance carrier, Allstate representatives can advise you on your policy and help you navigate the complex …

Medicare Open Enrollment Starts Oct. 15; Examine Your Options with APPRISE

Make sure your Medicare plan is still the best one for you. Learn about the program at Montco SAAC.

The Medicare open enrollment period begins Oct. 15 and RSVP volunteers from the APPRISE program are preparing to educate recipients and new consumers of their Medicare and health coverage choice options. Counselors will be at Montgomery County Senior Adult Activities Center (Montco SAAC) every Tuesday through the open enrollment period to meet with seniors by appointment. The open enrollment period offers beneficiaries the option of keeping or changing Medicare coverage. It also offers Medicare plans the opportunity to change coverage, as well as their lists of doctors or medications. Montco SAAC Sponsoring AARP Driver Safety Course

Become a safer driver and save on your insurance.

AARP volunteer instructor Ed Petershon will be teaching two Driver Safety Refresher Classes at Montgomery County Senior Adult Activities Center in the coming months. The class teaches adults how to adjust for age related changes in eyesight, hearing and reaction time and is especially designed for drivers age 50 and over. Auto insurance discounts are offered to graduates of the course in most states. Check with your insurance agent for details. Classes will be held Friday, Sept. 14, and Wednesday, Nov 7, at Montco SAAC at 536 George Street in Norristown. This refresher course is 4 hours long, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is offered to people who have taken the 8-hour course in the last 36 months. Pre-registration is required.  For more …
