Councilwoman Christian Holding Third District Town Meeting on Jan. 23

Residents will here about new business development and info on the proposed retirement community for the former Kennedy-Kenrick High School site.

Councilwoman Linda Christian has scheduled the next Third District town meeting for Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Community Room at the Montgomery County Human Services Center at 1430 DeKalb Street.   The meeting will feature an update on new business development in Norristown from Municipal Council President Gary Simpson and an overview of the layout for new development proposed by Hallman Retirement Communities for the site of the former Kennedy-Kenrick High School.    Norristown's Third District includes the neighborhoods between Harding Boulevard to Arch Street and Jacoby Street to Johnson Highway, but all Norristown residents are invited to attend the meeting. For further information about the meeting or…

The staff has done all of the work. They haven't done a damn thing. Ask Linda Christian who has sat on Police and Code committees for most of her term. CORRECTION: Council to Discuss Red Light Cameras at Final 2012 Meeting

Of note on tonight's short agenda is a discussion of automated red light enforcement systems, an option made available by recent state legislation.

Norristown Municipal Council meets tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Norristown Municipal Hall, 235 E. Airy Street for the final time in 2012. The agenda is short with scheduled adoptions the 2013 Municipal Budget, the 2013 Community Development Block Grant budget and changes to the zoning map for the former Kennedy-Kenrick High School site among other business. Also on the agenda is a discussion of automated red light enforcement systems, or red light cameras. The state legislature passed a bill in June giving certain Montgomery County municipalities the option to adopt the practice and some local municipalities (like Abington) are considering it.
