Council to Award Firefighters with Medal of Valor

Two Norristown firefighters involved in a Dec. 5 water tower rescue in Audubon are being honored by council tonight.

Norristown Municipal Council meets again tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Norristown Municipal Hall, 235 E. Airy Street. Among the business on tonight's agenda will be approval of the now-expired contract with Laborers’ Local 135, a public hearing on conditional use for proposed billboards in town and a discussion of the Lafayette Street Extension. Council will also honor two Norristown firefighters – Assistant Chief David Keeley and Firefighter Robert Myers. Keeley and Myers were instrumental in the high-angle, confined-space rescue of a worker trapped in a water tower in Audubon on Dec. 5. Keeley and another rescue worker, Joe Dishler, manned the rig while Myers rappelled down the inside of the 100-foot tower to free the worker caught in his own …

Municipal Council to Discuss Lafayette Street Corridor and Storm Water Infrastructure Tonight

Norristown Municipal Council meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Norristown Municipal Hall. Among the topics on the agenda are discussions of the Lafayette Street Corridor which began construction last week and of storm-water infrastructure. There will also be discussions of the municipality's agreement with Crystaline Studios to document Norristown's Bicentennial events and create two videos and a co-operative grant with East and West Norriton to purchase new windrow equipment for municipal composting. they didn't really discuss it other than voting on the resolutions. I was expecting more. I wish there was a better flow of information about this project. I hardly have any idea about whatrs going on with this project and I have been scouring every bit of news I can find.   more ›
