Construction on Lafayette Street Corridor Begins Today
County officials and representatives from Norristown and Plymouth will participate in the ceremonial demolition signaling the start of construction on the Lafayette Street extension to Plymouth and the Pa. Turnpike.
According to a release issued by the county, the Montgomery County Commissioners, representatives of the county’s transportation authority and Municipality of Norristown and Plymouth Township will take part in a ceremonial demolition of a house on Diamond Avenue in Norristown at 11:30 a.m. today, May 21. The demolition signals the start of construction on the much-anticipated Lafayette Street Corridor Project that would extend the thoroughfare from Norristown to Plymouth and the Pennsylvania Turnpike and improve accessibility to Norristown. Diamond Avenue is a short street that intersects Ridge Pike just east of the intersection with Conshohocken Road. Diamond runs from Ridge Pike to Conshohocken Road.
