The Altria Companies Employee Community Fund is offering grants to local nonprofits working in emergency services, domestic violence, homelessness, hunger relief, senior and youth services.
According to a release issued by Limerick-based John Middleton Company, a subsidiary of the Altria Companies, the Altria Companies Employee Community Fund (ACECF) has launched the 2013 grant cycle. Applications from eligible 501(c)(3) organizations operating in Pennsylvania and our other states are being accepted through Feb. 19. Grant awardees will be selected based on their local impact and programming in one of the ACECF’s targeted focus areas – emergency services, domestic violence, homelessness, hunger relief, senior services, and youth services. Awardees will be announced in August. According to Altria, 120 nonprofits received more than $2.4 million in grants to support their mission and fulfill community needs last year. …

The Montgomery Bar Association gave money to local groups that support law-related community issues.
From the Montgomery Bar Association: Montgomery Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Montgomery Bar Association, awarded grants to five local organizations to support their respective, law-related community initiatives. Checks from the foundation recently were distributed to the following organizations prior to the association’s board meeting: For over 25 years, grants like these have been awarded by the Bar Foundation to serve the elderly, homeless, victims of domestic violence, troubled and underprivileged youth, and other individuals and families in need.
