Norristown Sets Black History Month Celebration for Feb. 6

Norristown Black History Committee to honor "Jock" Livers, first African American owner of inspection station in the county.

Norristown Police Capt. Willie G. Richet said that today's children can remember that the opportunities they have today were often made possible by those that came before them. According to an article in The Times Herald, the Norristown Black History Committee plans to honor its heritage on Feb. 6. "It is important for our young people to know more about their heritage. They can see what their forefathers went through in order for them to enjoy what they have today," said Richet, an organizer of the Norristown Black History Committee, to the Herald.
