A total of six members of the Norristown Fire Department, and one member of the Norristown Police Department, were honored for their actions during a fire on April 21.
Local emergency responders were honored at the start of Wednesday night's Norristown Municipal Council Meeting, for their actions in rescuing twin toddlers from a burning home on Marshall street in April. Five members of the Norristown Fire Department and one member of the Norristown Police Department were awarded Unit Citations for displaying "dedication to duty and concern for life safety on April 21st, 2013." The girl walked away from her family, but is now safe.
The 8-year-old Norristown girl police had been searching for Monday evening has been found and returned to her family. The girl is reportedly safe and sound. Police were looking for her after she walked away from her family sometime around 5:30 p.m Monday. Jack Pennington retired from the Norristown Police Department as a Detective Sergeant in 1995. He was arrested Tuesday at the Plymouth Meeting Mall.
An Upper Merion man and former 28-year veteran of the Norristown Police Department was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges related to the distribution of methamphetamine and illegal bookmaking, the Montgomery County District Attorney's office announced Thursday. Jack Pennington, who retired from the police department in 1995, was taken into custody at the Plymouth Meeting Mall after an alleged exchange that included three ounces of crystal methamphetamine and almost $7,000 in cash, according to the criminal complaint filed by county detective James Vinter.
