Rita E. Oestreich, 93, of Ambler

Rita was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Ambler for 56 years where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and ran the Day of Recollection Retreat.

Rita E. Oestreich, 93, died November 12, 2012 in her home in Ambler.  Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John William and Elizabeth C. ( née Froelich) France. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry B. Oestreich in 1981 and her brother John P. France. She was a graduate of West Catholic High School, Class of 1938 and the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, Class of 1943. Rita was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Ambler for 56 years where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and ran the Day of Recollection Retreat. Friends Organize Benefit for Norristown Man's Family

Michael Humphries reportedly died suddenly in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 4, and friends have organized a fundraiser to help pay funeral costs and support his family.

Several Norristown Patch readers have contacted me about the passing of 31-year-old Michael Humphries on Sunday, Nov. 4. Humphries would be 32 years old today, Thursday, Nov. 8. According to his obituary on Lifecelebration.com, Humphries, the son of Michael A. Humphries and Regina Thompson, left behind a family including his love Heather LaVair and children Mya, Ella and soon-to-be-born Michael Matthew Humphries Jr. Friends and family are raising funds to help pay for Humphries' services and support his children. Tonight from 7 to 10 p.m., friends will be celebrating his life at Chap's Taproom in Jeffersonville. Doris Taylor Goggans, Beloved Upper Main Line Wawa Manager, Dies

Party Chairs Comment on the Passing of Arlen Specter

Leaders of both political parties issued statements on the occasion of the former Pennsylvania Senator's death.

Poliicial leaders accross the country have been reacting to the news that former Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter died today, Sunday Oct. 14, at his home in Philadelphia after a longtime battle with Hodgkin's disease. He was 82 years old. Specter represented Pennsylvania for 30 years, starting as a Republican and making headlines in 2009 when he switched to the Democratic Party. Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Jim Burn issued a statement on the Senator's passing Sunday afternoon.  "Senator Arlen Specter was a true Pennsylvania institution whose record of fighting for our Commonwealth is unmatched," said Burn. Sen. Arlen Specter Dies

The former U.S. Senator fought a long battle with cancer.

Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter died Sunday, according to CNN, at age 82 in his Philadelphia home. Specter represented Pennsylvania in the Senate for 30 years. Specter started as a Democrat but switched to the Republican party before being elected to the U.S. Senate. The senator made headlines in 2009 when he switched to the Democratic Party. Specter announced his diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease in 2005. He underwent multiple treatments of chemotherapy and finally succumbed to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma Sunday. Sen. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Costello) Harrington of 15 years.  He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 30, 1966 to James J. and Frances J. (Klauder) Harrington. Philomena T. Rotelli, 91, of Ambler

Philomena attended Norristown Area Schools. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Ambler and Lower Gwynedd Lions Auxillary. She loved cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Philomena T. Rotelli, 91, of Ambler, died on July 24, 2012 at Mercy Suburban Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Renald Rotelli. She was born in Norristown, PA on June 28, 1921 to the late William and Rose (Volpe) Frangiose.  Philomena attended Norristown Area Schools. Lawrence David Lofgren, Sr., 61, of Norristown, PA, formerly of Ambler, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 13, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Peeples) McFadden-Lofgren. Larry was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 9, 1950 to Dorothy (Gundluch) and the late Lawrence C. Lofgren. He was a graduate of Wissahickon High School Class of 1969.
