Teacher Job Fair: The Willow School in Norristown is looking for some people to change lives, all this week. Boxing at PAL: Keep bobbin' and weavin' this week on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Greater Norristown PAL. Must be between 10 and 17. Focus on Motherhood Childbirth Classes: First time moms and dads get an education on raising a child with this 12-week class at the Montgomery County Human Services Center. Lt. Patty Simons Food Drive Underway

The annual drive collects food for the Salvation Army Norristown Corps for Montgomery County residents in need.

The 17th Annual Lt. Patty Simons Law Enforcement Food Drive is currently underway and collecting food to stock the shelves of the Salvation Army for folks in need in Montgomery County. Food is being accepted at various drop-off locations throughout the county from now through Dec. 19. On Dec. 20, the food will be delivered on a flatbed truck from Greater Norristown PAL to the Salvation Army in Norristown accompanied by a caravan of Montgomery County Law Enforcement personnel in their vehicles and by local fire trucks. PAL's 12th Annual International Food & Wine Festival [PHOTOS]

The Greater Norristown Police Athletic League held it's 12th annual International Food & Wine Festival at Plymouth Country Club on Thursday and Patch was there to join the fun.

Crowds of supporters and community leaders turned out Thursday night for the Greater Norristown Police Athletic League's 12th annual International Food & Wine Festival at Plymouth Country Club and Patch was there to document the occasion. Proceeds from the annual event go to support the GNPAL's mission to "serve the youth and families of the Greater Norristown community with recreational, educational, and cultural programs addressing citizenship, self-esteem, avoidance of substance abuse, and respect for law and order." PAL's Annual International Food & Wine Festival Slated for Thursday

Greater Norristown Police Athletic League's 12th annual celebration of food, wine and entertainment kicks off at Plymouth Country Club tonight at 5 p.m.

It's considered by some to be the party of the year for Norristown-area residents (possibly rivaled only by the Elmwood Park Zoo's Oktoberfest) and it's happening tonight. The Greater Norristown Police Athletic League's 12th Annual International Food & Wine Festival takes over the Plymouth Country Club at 888 Plymouth Road with almost two dozen local eateries and vendors offering food, wine, drinks and live entertainment to supporters of PAL. The event runs Thursday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. and tickets are only $50. You can purchase tickets at the door or on the organization's website. Back-to-School Haircut Day at PAL Center [PHOTOS]

Norristown barbers took over the PAL Center on Sunday and donated their time and talents to make sure kids look good when they go back to school this week.

Barbers from nine different Norristown-area shops banded together on Sunday to make sure kids going back-to-school next week do it in style. Boys entering grades 1 through 9 were invited to come to the Greater Norristown PAL Center at 340 Harding Boulevard on Sunday for a free haircut, just in time for the new school year. The nine shops participating in the event included the Hair Zone, Dominican Unisex Salon, Bud's, Green and Spruce Street Barber Shop, Hair Labb, Goodfellas, Exclusive, Ken-Do's and Culbreath's Barber Shop. PAL Center Hosting Free Back-to-School Haircut Day on Sunday

Nine Norristown barber shops are donating their time and talents to make sure kids look good when they go back to school next week and they're looking for donations of food and snacks to feed the hungry masses.

Barbers from nine different Norristown-area shops are banding together on Sunday to make sure kids going back-to-school next week do it in style. Boys entering grades 1 through 9 are invited to come to the Greater Norristown PAL Center at 340 Harding Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2 for a free haircut, just in time for the new school year. First Lady Talks Childhood Obesity in Philly

Michelle Obama spoke at the Lenfest PAL center in North Philadelphia; her 'Let's Move!' initiative recently got support from the National League of Cities.

First Lady Michelle Obama yesterday spoke to crowd at the Lenfest PAL Center in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia. Standing behind Obama on the stage were about a dozen municipal leaders, including Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Newark, N.J. Mayor Cory Booker. But the event wasn’t political. In fact, the First Lady went out of her way to say that the issue on which she was speaking, childhood obesity, did not follow party lines. Obama was there to tout her "Let’s Move!" initiative, which is dedicated to "solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation," according to its website. Register Now for PAL's 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament

The fourth annual event is open to all players 18 years or older.

Greater Norristown Police Athletic League's (GNPAL) fourth annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is schedule for Saturday, Feb. 25. The cost to enter the tournament is $100 per team and each team must have at least three, but no more than four players. All entry forms and fees must be received by Friday, Feb. 11. (Download and entry form in our PDF section.) The event is open to all entrants, 18 years or older. All teams will participate in the round-robin portion of the tournament, followed by playoffs. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team and all participants will receive a tournament t-shirt. Tournament sponsorships are still available. Once Again, GNPAL wants to thank everyone that made this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Day of Service at Greater Norristown PAL successful. We knew that we would have a great turnout, as we have had the past two years and this year was no different. The level of diversity that was vividly portrayed on Jan. 16, surpassed our expectations again this year! This vivid illustration of human commitment is the start of living the "Dream" as a reality, but it is only the beginning. It truly is what we should all expect, in all communities, boards, corporations, agencies and municipalities, at every level, throughout the year, 24/7/365 – not just when commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday. Norristown Celebrates MLK Day of Service

Several events and activities in Norristown yesterday honored the memory of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Residents from all over the area honored the memory of Martin Luther King, Jr. in Norristown yesterday by volunteering their time at area nonprofits like the Greater Norristown Police Athletic League and the ACPPA Communtiy Art Center. Later that evening, a crowd gathered at Norristown Municipal Hall for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Living the Dream” awards ceremony honoring Norristown's Brian Wayne Bell for his impressive history of civil service to our community.
