Bridgeport Couple Faces Child Endangerment Charges for Starving Son

Doctor's called the 6-year-old boy's condition "one of the worst cases of malnutrition they've ever seen."

According to several media outlets, Victor and Olaifa Ramos, of Bridgeport, are facing charges including simple and aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal conspiracy for starving their 6-year-old son. The boy weighed only 29 pounds when doctors at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia encountered him. According to ABC Action News, the investigation into the couple began three months ago when the couple brought the boy to CHOP at death's door. Doctor's at the time reportedly said the boy looked "more like a 3-year-old than a 6-year-old." “This child was not given proper nutrition, proper calories to maintain a healthy body weight for his system, for his development,” Assistan District Attorney Samantha …

Can anyone please tell us who makes these decisions to return a child to their parents when a child is brought in to a hospital in the condition he was in and then spent a month there recovering. When God was handing out "brains", these people thought he said "trains" and they didn't want any!! Our justice system needs a complete overhaul and people with an ounce of common sense.   more ›

Get 'Patch'd'!

Local business owner creates the official drink of Patch.

Local business owner Chris Gimaro, of Gimaro Seafood and Steakhouse in Montgomeryville, recently concocted a delicious new drink recipe inspired by the team behind the Montgomery County region of Patch. The drink, which Gimaro has dubbed "Patch'd", features a tasty mixture of Sour-Apple Pucker Vodka mixed with none-other-than a Monster energy drink. "I know you guys are always busy with writing and reporting, so it was important to mix it with an energy drink," said Gimaro. "After all that hard work though, you'll need something stronger to unwind, so I tossed in some apple vodka." In order to achieve the Patch Green color, Gimaro said he had to add in two drops of green food dye, and by doing so, his masterpiece was complete. "It is green…

Former Norristown Priest Takes Bishops To Task in Remarks to Parishioners

Father Liam Murphy, formerly stationed at St. Patrick's Church, posted his remarks about the Monsignor Lynn verdict and the ongoing rift in the church over the scandal to Facebok.

By now most readers are familiar with the case against Monsignor William Lynn. Lynn was charged with several counts of endangering children and conspiracy for his alleged role in covering up instances of sexual abuse of children by priests in Archdiocese of Philadelphia. [See this timeline of the case put together by The New York Times.] On Friday, Lynn, a former aide to Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua, was found guilty of endangering children and became the first senior official of the Roman Catholic Church in America convicted of covering up sexual abuses by priests. Lynn was acquited of conspiracy and another count of endangerment by the jury. Many local Catholics have struggled for years with their faith and loyalty to the church in the …

I, like many others have left the Church, over this issue. It had cut me to the core, and I still find it sad that something that could be so very good has disintegrated into something cult-ish. I no longer have faith in the direction of the official church, and therefore renounce their authority over me. I am free to explore my relationship with Jesus as I think Jesus wants of all of us. It is …   more ›

New Motion Seats at Frank Theatres Let You Feel the Films

Frank Theatres is the first movie theater company on the East Coast to introduce motion effect seats. The Montgomeryville location has 30 seats in one theater, available Friday evening

For 20 minutes on Friday morning, I was Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in "Fast Five." I felt the punches thrown. I felt the acceleration of the vehicles. I felt the tingling of the car engine being revved. I felt the impact of trucks and cars crashing into buildings and trains.  And when the screen panned back or revolved around an object, my seat moved back and hula-hooped in a circle. At one point, I was also part of the group on the front of a runaway train in "The Polar Express" animated film. The seat I was in rumbled with each hit of the roller-coaster train track at one scene in the film. "It's its own script," said Frank Theatres Montgomeryville Stadium 12 manager Russell Davis. "It moves with the movie." This new seat technology at …
