Celebrate National Pie Day

Today is National Pie Day and we've got a few suggestions for how to honor the day

The American Pie Council (yes, there actually is one) has declared today National Pie Day. And why not? Pies are awesome and delicious and deserve our love and respect. According to the council, the best way to celebrate this venerable occasion is to pass on your favorite recipe to a child or grandchild or give the gift of a pie to a friend or neighbor to enjoy. But if baking is not on your agenda today, you can still get your hands on some top-notch pies. I WAS AT BOSTON MARKET LAST NIGHT AND SURPRISED TO FIND THAT THEY SELL APPLE PIES AND PUMPKIN PIES. ALSO, ZEBER'S BAKERY ON GERMANTOWN PIKE HAS GREAT CAKES, SO I THINK THEY ALSO SELL PIES BUT I HAVE NEVER BOUGHT ONE OF THEIR PIES. THEY DO SELL BEAUTIFUL STRAWBERRY SHORT CAKES AND THEIR VANILLA CAKES ARE THE BEST AROUND.   more ›
