New owners, a new menu and some renovations are expected to turn the once great Blue Bell Inn around.
Kevin Clib and Scott Dougherty, of M2K Restaurant Group, and Bruce Goodman, of Goodman Properties, have purchased the historic Blue Bell Inn at a recent sheriff's sale. The restaurant will change hands on Sept. 4 and until then will continue the lunch and dinner service it has since 1945, according to The Times Herald. Goodman told the Herald that the new owners plan to rejuvenate the restaurant by renovating the building and, when the doors reopen in September with a new American menu, attract new customers while still pleasing their current diners. The renovations will most likely continue through April, but the restaurant will remain open during this time.

Two new eateries have opened in the Norristown area this June – the Norristown Diner and Dante’s Ristorante & Pizzeria – and both are looking to make an impact on the local restaurant scene. The Norristown Diner is a colorful new place, co-owned by Hussein Abdelhalim, at 234 West Johnson Highway, the former location of Astoria Family Restaurant. The diner is already making a name for itself with its constant changing specials and memorable seafood dishes. Abdelhalim believes it all starts with preparation. "We’re special because we have a great Greek Chef, we have a unique taste, and almost everything is homemade." Although the Norristown Diner just opened on June 15, Abdelhalim is no stranger to the restaurant business. He also owns the …

According to a popular Facebook quiz, most people have tried about 20 of the 100 items. How many have you tried?
A Facebook list of 100 foods to try before you die is all the buzz on the popular social media site. The list, which is really a quiz to shame you into trying more foods or in some cases brag to friends about how culinarily adventurous you are, has been gaining popularity. Some of the items on the list are every day items to most of us. Fish tacos and mimosas are hardly haute cuisine, but have you tried kangaroo, shark, squirrel or something called umeboshi? (We Googled it for you. It is pickled ume fruit, a sort of plum or apricot.) So here is what to do: Get out a pen and make a tally of each the foods you've tried on this list. Then let us know how many you've sampled in the comment section below and tell us if you know where we can …

Not shopping in town as long as town ignores citizens complaining about illegal activities done by businesses and contractors. Just like the cop who tries to keep people from complaining about morabito bakery who again violated the law and had a delivery today June 29th after 7 pm, so will the rest of the town ignore citizens and kowtow to businesses and contractors destroying the town further …   more ›
