Construction on Markley Street Improvement Project to Begin Monday

PennDOT crews will begin removing trees from along Markley Street starting on Monday to prepare for utility pole placement.

According to a release issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), work on the Markley Street Improvement Project is scheduled to being this Monday, Feb. 11. The project consists of two construction contracts to improve Markley Street from just south of Main Street to Johnson Highway in Norristown. [Download an overview of the project and a timeline for construction in our PDF section.] According to PennDOT, the initial $20.8 million project will rebuild and improve 1.1 miles of Markley Street between Elm Street and Johnson Highway, and a half-mile stretch of Johnson Highway between Markley and DeKalb streets. PennDOT Closing East Johnson Highway Starting Wednesday

The road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the rest of the week.

East Norriton Township issued an alert on Tuesday East Johnson Highway will be closed between Old Arch Rd and Rahway Avenue starting Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. while PennDOT crews work on the road. The posted detour will direct drivers to Old Arch Road and New Hope Street. The closure is expected to last through the end of the week while PennDOT crews replace a 48-inch drainage cross pipe under the roadway. For more PennDOT information, visit www.dot.state.pa.us.

Gwen, that was the information that PennDOT and East Norriton released yesterday. I can call PennDOT tomorrow to find out why the road is still closed and I'll check with the school district to find out if any bus stops have been moved.   more ›

Trooper Road Closed Between Germantown Pike and Woodland Avenue on Friday, Oct. 12

Crews will be repaving the road and only local and emergency traffic will be allowed access.

The Montgomery County ReadyNotifyPA system has sent an alert notifying area residents that Trooper Road between Woodland Ave and West Germantown Pike will be closed for road paving on Friday, Oct. 12. The road may be closed the entire day and only local and emergency traffic will be allowed acces to the area. Drivers are advised to find alternate routes and expect detours and delays in the area.

Five Weeks of Road Closures Planned in Whitpain Township

Walsh Construction has five weeks of road closures planned in Whitpain and Plymouth Township planned for bridge deck completion work.

Over the next five weeks, Walsh Construction will be closing roadways in Whitpain and Plymouth Townships to complete bridge deck work as part of the turnpike widening project. Roadway closures will be from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. According to Whitpain Township, there will be detour routes posted during the road closures. Northbound 476 Down to Single Lane Tonight for Construction

Northbound I-476 between Mid-County and Lansdale will have one lane closed for bridge work from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 4 a.m. Wednesday.

I-476 Northbound The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is warning drivers traveling northbound on the northeast extension (I-476) between the Mid-County and Lansdale Interchange of single lane traffic tonight, Sept. 11, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Construction crews will be closing the right lane between mile post A22 and A23 while crews work on the mainline bridge where is crosses Jolly Road in Whitpain Township, according to the Turnpike Commission. The peed limit through the work zone is posted at 40 MPH and will be lifted at 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
