State Police Searching for Missing College Student

Matthew Royer, 21, of Skippack, left his apartment at the University of Rhode Island on Thursday and has not been seen since.

Police are seeking help in locating a missing Skippack man who hasn’t been heard from since leaving his Rhode Island college on Thursday. Pennsylvania State Police say that Matthew R. Royer, 21, left the University of Rhode Island on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. en route to his Skippack Township home, but has not been heard from since. Royer is 6 feet, one inch tall and 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, and police believe he is driving a silver 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. According to WFMZ, Royer’s last cell phone activity was traced to somewhere near Vera Cruz Road in Lehigh County. Missing Norristown Man Found

73-year-old John Smith was discovered tangled in some brush in a wooded area near the Regatta Apartments and the 1000 block of Main Street

Authorities have confirmed that 73-year-old John Smith, who had been missing since early Thursday morning, March 7, was found Monday evening. Smith is reportedly safe and currently being treated at Mercy Suburban Hospital for exposure and related minor injuries. According to Norristown Police Lt. Todd Dillon, Smith was discovered entangled in some brush in a wooded area between the Regatta Apartments off Sandy Hill Road and the 1000 block of East Main Street. He was examined by emergency medical personnel at the scene and transported to the hospital for further treatment. It's unclear how long Smith had been trapped in the wooded area, but his blood sugar levels indicated that he had eaten food in the last few days. Smith reportedly …

Search for Missing Norristown Man Continues

Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue and a local Boy Scout Troop have joined the search.

Authorities are still searching for John Smith, the 73-year-old Norristown man who went missing early Thursday morning. Norristown Police are now being assisted by Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue (GPSR), a professional search team of trained men and women using canine partners and teams on bicycles. A local Boy Scout Troop has also joined the search effort. GPSR has set up a command center across from Norristown Municipal Hall at 235 East Airy Street. According to Mark Hopkins with GPSR, the group is searching wooded areas and parks again (the team was in town on Saturday doing the same) and is expanding the search to surrounding neighborhoods. UPDATE: Police ID Wanted Man From Wednesday's Search

Cole Manor Elementary and Penn Christian Academy were put on lockdown while police searched for a probation/parole violator who was reportedly seen in the area.

UPDATE: [1/30/13; 5:30 p.m.] Authorities have identified the suspect in the Wednesday search that caused two East Norriton schools to be placed on lockdown. According to Norristown Police Detective Lt. Michael Crescitelli, authorities were searching for Rashaad Grayson on a state parole warrant. Grayson reportedly fled in a car which was later found abandoned at Norriton Fire Engine Company in East Norriton. He has currently not been aprehended.
