Police: Lansdale Man Late on Rent, Attacks Landlord with Knife, Tire Iron

Basement dweller William Keith Kane, 23, is wanted for felony assault by Lansdale Police for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill the landlord of the Franklin Street home where he lived with a knife and tire iron.

A basement dweller named William Keith Kane, 23, is wanted by police for allegedly threatening to kill and for allegedly assaulting the landlord with a tire iron and knife.  Police believe, but have not confirmed, that Kane is in the Boyertown area. Kane lived in the basement at 400 Franklin St., police said. The homeowner was Kane's landlord. A felony warrant has been issued against Kane for the alleged assault at the same address, police said. CORRECTION: Police Investigating Text Threat Circulating Among Students

A text threat sent by a student from another district apparently went viral among the student body at several schools, prompting police involvement.

UPDATE: [4:20 p.m.] Norristown Patch reported earlier about security measures taken at the high school Friday morning in response to threats police were investigating. Parents and students responding to the report noted that they had not seen any metal-detecting wands and students were not forced to enter through only one entryway at the school. According to Norristown Area School Superintendent Dr. Janet Samuels, there was a miscommunication regarding the use of metal-detecting wands. Dr. Samuels confirmed with administrators at the high school that wands were not in fact used on any students.
