Emmaus police say 30-year-old Flint Andrew Staton, of Perkiomenville, was following his estranged wife to work with a Valentine's Day card, a cache of weapons, restraining devices and a mask.
Perkiomen Valley Patch has the story of a Valentine's Day done wrong. According to Emmaus Police, Flint Andrew Staton, 30, of Perkiomenville, was following his estranged wife to work when they pulled him over for violating a protection from abuse order. In his car, they found a Valentine's Day card with 39 additional pieces of paper featuring drawings of violent acts. The card was reportedly entitled "A Promise for My Wife." With the card, police say they found guns, knives, ammunition, duct tape, binoculars, arrowheads, a machete, a Kevlar military helmet, cable restraints, a mask and wigs. Parents were alarmed to receive a call from the school alerting them to the letter, but reportedly offering few details.
Several concerned parents contacted Patch on Monday, Jan. 28, after receiving a call from Whitehall Elementary School alerting them to a letter sent to the school that was now under investigation. Parents were not specific about any details conveyed in the call and calls to Maryanne Hoskins, principal of Whitehall Elementary, were referred to the Norristown Area School District. The school district has not returned calls for comment at this time. West Norriton Police Chief Dale Mabry confirmed that his department is investigating the letter, which was reportedly sent to the school from a correctional institution. According to a release from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Anthony Elonis, 28, of Bethlehem, Pa., was sentenced on Wednesday, Sept. 18, to 44 months in prison for four counts of interstate communication of threats in connection with postings he made to his Facebook page. Among the threats that Elonis posted were threats against his wife, Pennsylvania State Police, the FBI, the Berks County Sheriff’s Department and an unidentified kindergarten class in the Bethlehem area. A bicyclist asking for directions in Norristown on Tuesday evening was threatened with a gun when he approached a group of four males at the corners of Main and Pearl streets. Harassment According to Norristown police, on Sunday, April 10, Argentina Lowry, of 610 Green Street, reported that Ashley Wallace, of 743 Haws Avenue, came to her house looking for another girl to fight.
