Police Investigating Shots Fired Reported Tuesday in the West End

Residents say they heard shots ring out Tuesday afternoon in the area of West Oak and George streets.

Several residents in the West End reported hearing shots fired shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 15, in the area of West Oak and George streets.  According to a report from the Norristown Police Department, a caller who reported hearing the shots told police that he heard them right outside his home. He also reported hearing an unidentified voice say several times, "I'm going to kill you." Officers reportedly spoke with several people at the scene and determined the shots most likely originated in the 600 block of West Oak Street. Police searched the area, but could find no evidence – blood, shell casings or damaged property –of the incident. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Norristown Police …

UPDATE: Police: Victim 'Not Cooperating' in Drive-By Shooting Investigation

At least one man in his early 20s is reportedly injured and has been flown by medevac to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

UPDATE: [1/4/13; 9:15 a.m.] Authorities are investigating a drive-by shooting in the area of West Oak and Kohn streets in Norristown Thursday night that sent one man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his stomach area, but say the victim is not cooperating with their investigation. "[The victim] is not cooperating," said Corporal Adam Schurr, a detective with the Norristown Police Department. "He refused to give any information to police on the scene." Cpl. Schurr added that the investigation into last night's shooting, like others in recent weeks, is hampered by a lack of witnesses willing to talk about what they saw. UPDATE: Astor St. Shooting Suspect in Police Custody After Manhunt

Darnell Anderson, of Philadelphia, led police on a manhunt through Norristown's West End after he allegedly shot a man on Astor Street early Tuesday morning.

The Norristown Police Department has confirmed that the suspect in this morning's shooting on the 600 block of Astor Street is in custody, following a more than four hour manhunt through Norristown's West End. Darnell Anderson, 22, of Philadelphia, was found hiding under the wooden floor of a towing business on the 100 block of West Marshall Street shortly before noon today. When officers found him, he was reportedly covered in mud and wearing only his underwear. According to Norristown Police Chief Russell Bono, officers responded to 667 Astor Street at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, for a report of a shooting.
