Firefighters Respond to Call in Trent Manor

Lower Providence and Jefferson fire companies responded to the call from a resident who smelled an odd odor in the basement of the home.

Firefighters from Lower Providence and Jefferson fire companies responded to the 2200 block of Grant Court off of Norris Hall Lane in the Trent Manor section of Eagleville sometime after 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday for a report of a possible building fire. On the scene, firefighters met with the resident, who told them she smelled an odd odor in her basement and was concerned something might be a fire. Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to inspect the residence, but not locate a heat signature. They cleared the scene shortly after noon.

Eagleville Resident Named Newman Civic Fellow for 2013

Patricia Piazza, a student at Montgomery County Community College, is one of the organizers of the Hogs and Honeys Valentine’s fundraiser for Mission Kids.

From Montgomery County Community College:  Patricia Piazza has brought honor to Montgomery County Community College (MCCC), funding to a child advocacy center headquartered in Blue Bell, and support to the college’s Criminal Justice Club.  Piazza, of Eagleville, a non-traditional student at MCCC, was named a Newman Civic Fellow for 2013.  MCCC President Dr. Karen Stout and Dr. Chris Przemieniscki, assistant professor of Criminal Justice and advisor to the student Criminal Justice and Fire Science club, nominated Piazza for the national award. Egypt Road Construction Causing Traffic Headaches

A basic bridge repair has got many drivers in Norristown frustrated. Along Egypt Road, both School Lane and Heston Avenue have had road closures and marked detours, causing drivers in the area some extra hassle. Those wanting to shop in West Norriton's Walmart, Marshalls, Aldi, Home Depot or surrounding stores and eateries in particular have it tough. Drivers will have to use the access point along Trooper Road, at Boulevard of the Generals to enter the lot. Work is being done on the drainage area and bridge that allows for vehicle access along the Marshall's and Aldi end of the complex (adjacent to Heston Avenue). Student With BB Gun Arrested After Alternative School Lockdown, Police Say

A school official said the Lincoln Center student brought a BB gun to school, prompting the lockdown.

UPDATE: [03/02/13; 1:20 p.m.] Lower Providence Township Police were called to the Lincoln Center at 2600 Eisenhower Ave., in Eagleville around 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, for what was earlier indicated as a man with a gun on the premises. Several units responded to the scene and secured the area. One subject was seen in custody in the back of a police SUV in the parking lot of the facility. Gary Grenier, executive director for the nonprofit alternative school, told reporters that school was placed on lockdown after school staff became aware that a student at the center had brought a "non letheal" weapon – a BB gun – to school. Possible Child Luring Incident Under Investigation

Lower Providence Police are seeking information on five men in a white cargo van who offered a 9-year-old a ride home.

Lower Providence Police are looking for information about a suspicious incident that happened on Defford Place in the Eagle Duplexes in Eagleville. Officers were reportedly dispatched to the area on Monday at 12:05 p.m., for a report of a suspicious incident. On the scene, a 9-year-old girl who lives in the Eagle Duplexes told police that a white cargo van with a door on the passenger side approached her as she sat on a curb near her home. The van was reportedly being driven by a white male and the cargo area was occupied by four other white males. The girl told police that several of the men engaged her in conversation and asked to give her a ride home. She refused and the men left the area. Authorities say there was no physical contact …

'Good Samaritan' Robbed at Gunpoint

An Eagleville man who offered to give three men a ride home from a West Norriton bar was allegedly robbed by his passengers at gunpoint.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, a 28-year-old Eagleville man was robbed at gunpoint by three men who he was giving a ride home from a local bar. According to reports, on Saturday, Dec. 22 at approximately 3:10 p.m. the victim left Tony G's South Philly Pub & Eatery in Jeffersonville with three men who he agreed to drive home.  While driving the men home, one suspect allegedly pulled out a silver semi-automatic gun and demanded money and drugs from the driver. The victim reportedly stopped the car and the men moved him to the back seat of the vehicle. The men continued driving with one suspect behind the wheel. Eagleville Man Charged for Tearing Up Turf at Elementary School

Shady Grove Elementary School’s soccer field was vandalized.

According to Whitpain Police, an Eagleville man has been charged with Criminal Mischief in connection with the vandalism of a soccer field belonging to a Wissahickon School District Elementary School. On Nov. 2, at 1 p.m., police responded to a call at Shady Grove Elementary School where someone had caused extensive turf damage to the soccer field. Whitpain Police investigation found that the vehicle that caused the damage was a black Dodge Pickup truck without of state tags. An officer noticed the truck on Skippack Pike, while on patrol. The driver was identified as David Castellon of the 100 block of Eagle Stream Drive in Eagleville, who was charged with Criminal Mischief.
