Shots Fired at Green and Jacoby Streets, Cars Damaged, No Injuries Reported

Neighbors report hearing a number of shots fired in the area Tuesday afternoon.

At the same time firefighters were responding to a house fire in the 600 block of West Main Street on Tuesday afternoon, Norristown Police were rushing to the corner of Jacoby and Green streets for a report of multiple shots fired in the area. Officers cordoned off the corner at approximately 4 p.m. on April 2, and canvased the street and the surrounding area for evidence and spent shell casings. Several casings were visible in the street. No victims were reported injured in the incident, but according to The Times Herald, the windows of at least five cars were damaged by the gunfire. Electrical Fire Shuts Down West Main Street Tuesday

No one was reported injured in a residential fire the destroyed a second floor apartment and left four families homeless.

The 600 block of West Main Street in Norristown was shut down for several hours during rush hour on Tuesday, April 2, while firefighters battled a house fire that left four families homeless. Units from the Norristown Fire Department, Jefferson Fire Company, Norriton Fire Engine Company and Plymouth Fire Company, as well as Plymouth Community Ambulance Company responded to the call for a house fire at 3:50 p.m. and found heavy smoke pouring from the second floor front bedroom of the three-story structure. According to Norristown Fire Chief Thomas O'Donnell, the fire started when a floor-mounted electrical receptacle malfunctioned and sparks came into contact with a mattress and other combustibles. Police: Lansdale Man Late on Rent, Attacks Landlord with Knife, Tire Iron

Basement dweller William Keith Kane, 23, is wanted for felony assault by Lansdale Police for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill the landlord of the Franklin Street home where he lived with a knife and tire iron.

Update Kane has turned himself in to Lansdale Police. Read the story here. Earlier Story Kane was able to get away from police on a felony assault charge. For now. A basement dweller named William Keith Kane, 23, is wanted by police for allegedly threatening to kill and for allegedly assaulting the landlord with a tire iron and knife.  Police believe, but have not confirmed, that Kane is in the Boyertown area. Kane lived in the basement at 400 Franklin St., police said. The homeowner was Kane's landlord. A felony warrant has been issued against Kane for the alleged assault at the same address, police said. Armed Robbery at Markley Street Citgo Under Investigation

Police are reportedly investigating an armed robbery at another area gas station Thursday night.

Patch readers are reporting Norristown Police and EMS are on the scene at the Citgo Gas Station in the Astor Shopping Center in the 1700 block of Markley Street Thursday night. Police have confirmed that two armed men robbed the station and customers inside the store and fled on foot. Early reports from readers and scanner chatter describe the men as two black male suspects in ski masks. The cashier of the store may have been pistol whipped during the robbery. Police are still investigating at the scene. Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: Audubon Bank Robber Captured in Under an Hour

Police say a local cab company helped them capture the man they believe robbed the First Niagra Bank at Trooper and Egypt roads in Audubon Thursday morning.

Lower Providence Police have a man in custody they believe robbed the First Niagra Bank at Trooper and Egypt roads in Audubon shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday morning. 21-year-old Kyle Anthony Wilson, of Fort Washington, was captured in under an hour after a tip from a local cab company led police to his whereabouts in Philadelphia. Authorities believe Wilson is also responsible for the robberies of the PNC Bank at 2450 Chemical Road in Plymouth Township on Wednesday, March 11 and a Citizen’s Bank in Montgomery Township on Wednesday, March 6. Two Armed Robberies, Shots Fired Under Investigation Sunday Night

Norristown Police are investigating a series of armed robberies Sunday night, both involving two armed men, and an earlier shots fired report. It's unclear if the events are connected.

According to Norristown's Interim Police Chief Willie Richet, his department is investigating two armed robberies that have been reported within an hour of one another on the east side of town between 8 and 9 p.m. Sunday night. More than an hour earlier, officers were investigating a report of shots fired in the area of 800 Green St. County radio reports sometime around 8:30 p.m. indicated the Getty Service Station at 301 East Johnson Highway was robbed by two armed black males who stole an unknown amount of cash and fled on foot. That report was followed less than 30 minutes later by a report of another armed robbery, this time of a grocery store in the area of DeKalb and Jacoby streets. Norristown Police Chief Willie Richet reports that his officer responded to the scene and did not find evidence of a shooting. The scene is clear.

Norristown Police and emergency medical services responded to a call for a shooting at approximately 9:10 p.m. at the Norristown Transportation Center at Lafayette and Swede streets Wednesday night. Interim Police Chief Willie Richet reported that his officers arrived on the scene and found nothing to indicate a shooting or a victim. Sunday Morning Home Invasion Under Investigation

One man is in custody and another person is being sought in connection with a shots fired incident that police say may have been an attempted home invasion.

Authorities are investigating what they believe is an attempted home invasion in the 700 block of Astor Street early Sunday morning. Patch readers reported heavy police activity in the area sometime before 6 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24. The incident was originally categorized as a shots-fired call, according to 6ABC Action News. Norristown Police Chief Russell Bono later told The Times Herald he believed the incident was an attempted home invasion. At least one man is in custody and another person is still being sought by authorities in connection with the incident. Wanted Person Apprehended by Police in West Norriton

The unidentified subject reportedly ran into an apartment in the neighborhood to escape police, but surrendered a short time after.

Patch readers reported heavy police activity in the area of Centre Ave. and West Marshall Street in West Norriton Friday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m. The event may be connected to an earlier incident reported minutes prior in Norristown, but authorities have yet to confirm that connection. Police say that a wanted person being sought by them ran into an apartment in the 100 block of Centre Avenue to evade them, but the still unidentified subject surrendered to police shortly after. Shortly before the reports of the incident in West Norriton, a reader reported shots fired in the area of Corson and Oak Streets in Norristown. Felony Theft Case Against Pottstown Teen Heads to Trial

Jeremiah White, 19, of the 400 block of North Charlotte Street, allegedly stole a Ford Expedition on Jan. 5 from Norristown, and later crashed it in a Hatfield Township accident, police said.

Jeremiah White's stomach allegedly got him in trouble with the law — and he is now headed to county trial on, among other offenses, a felony receiving stolen property charge. White, 19, of the 400 block of North Charlotte Street, Pottstown, waived charges of felony receiving stolen property, misdemeanor accidents involving damage to another vehicle, failing to stop and render aid and following a vehicle too closely Tuesday at Montgomery Township district court, according to The Reporter. White is free on $10,000 unsecured bail, which District Judge Andrea Duffy granted at his preliminary hearing, according to court records.
