ATM skimmers ― illicit devices that blend into a cash machine's card slot, then record bank card info for later retrieval by a thief ― were found on two bank ATMs in Montgomery County earlier this month. PhillyBurbs.com reports that the devices were found on Jan. 5 and 6 on the ATMs of Wells Fargo branches on Skippack Pike in Whitpain and Whitemarsh townships. Authorities believe that the devices were discovered quickly and that no customer accounts were compromised. Other skimmers have recently been found on ATMs in Bucks County and in Medford, NJ. Whitpain Township is reporting that a bat caught on the 900 block of Skippack Pike in Blue Bell has tested positive for rabies. "Anyone that has been bitten, scratched or had saliva exposure by a bat must receive treatment to prevent this fatal disease. If you, someone in your household, or any of your pets have possibly had contact with a bat or any other stray or wild animal, immediately call the Montgomery County Health Department, Division of Communicable Disease Control at (610) 278-5117," reports the Township.

Skippack Pike fire on Sunday afternoon had the road shut down from DeKalb Pike to North Wales Rd.
8:30 p.m. Update: Centre Square Fire Chief Lee Miller said the Sunday afternoon fire on Skippack Pike originated in apartment 1 of a house that was converted to a three unit apartment. Miller said the apartment "sustained severe fire, heat and smoke damage."He added that the other two apartments were vacant and only sustained minor damage during the fire. Whitpain Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the fire. The building has been deemed uninhabitable.
