Nicole Jenet is a Bucks County native who has had a passion for writing and journalism for as long as she can remember. With big dreams of one day writing and reporting the news, she studied communication at La Salle University in Philadelphia. Prior to graduating in May 2010, Nicole interned at various Philadelphia media outlets. She worked with the Investigators at NBC 10 where, among many other responsibilities, was assigned with reporting back to the newsroom the events of former Senator Vince Fumo's trial. Nicole also worked at Philadelphia magazine as an online editorial intern where she got the chance to write for the Health and Fitness section of the publication's website. The first time she saw her name in print was like Christmas morning.  Nicole spent the months following her graduation as a contributing writer for Pearson Publishing in Doylestown, PA and a staff writer for Montgomery Media. She covered school board meetings, municipal meetings, elections, community events and more in Springfield Township, Montgomery County. This is where she learned how important hyper-local journalism is to residents who want to know who is running for office, why their taxes are going up and what decisions the school board is making. Whether is the was her time working with Philly mag's health and fitness editor or the lingering freshman 15 weight, Nicole took up yoga, pilates and kickboxing as new hobbies. You will find her in her basement every morning stretching, punching, crunching and sweating it out before the sun rises. When Nicole is not writing, blogging or tweeting, she is a Gleek and reality television junkie. Nicole also often gets wrapped up in Law and Order: SVU and Sex and the City marathons. Your Beliefs At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know. Politics  How would you describe your political beliefs? Are you registered with a certain party? I am registered as a Democrat, however I find myself voting for a person, not a party. Religion How religious would you consider yourself? (casual, observant, devout, non religious) I was raised Roman Catholic and attended CCD until 8th grade. In terms of how religious I consider myself to be, I think I fit somewhere in between casual and observant. I find myself questioning different aspects and beliefs of Catholicism, but I think it is important to believe in a higher being and have faith in something.  Local Hot-Button Issues What do you think are the most important issues facing the community? Where do you stand on each of these issues? While I am relatively new to the Lower Southampton area and am still learning my way around, my priority is learning what issues are most important to residents.
