Corson Street Shooting Sends One Victim to Hospital

A 20-year-old male victim was shot in the leg late Thursday night.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the leg on Thursday night on Corson Street near the intersection of West Marshall Street.

According to MontCo DPS, the shooting occurred 10:09 p.m. near Crown Fried Chicken. Reports from the Times Herald's Facebook page indicate that staffers in the newsroom heard a total of eight shots fired, and the report also stated that a victim was on the ground with a leg wound.

Multiple sources have informed Patch that the victim is a 20-year-old male, who sustained a single gunshot wound to the leg. We are withholding the victim's identification pending proper verification and notification. 

Emergency responders initially called for a medevac, which would have landed on the grounds of the Norristown State Hospital, but due to weather concerns the helicopter was waived off. Instead, the victim was transported via ambulance from the scene.
